2026 DETROIT SCHOOL BOARD · CANDIDATE VIDEO SERIES
GEORGIA LEMMONS
4-Year Term General Election Candidate
-
Interviewer:
If elected to the school board, what would be your top priority for the students, and why and how would you prioritize it?
Georgia Lemon:
If elected to the school board, my top priority is making sure that students achieve academically. So we need to have higher scores in reading and math especially. And how I would achieve that is that I would make sure that students have what they need. That includes personnel, the administration, to make sure that their staff is giving their all and all to the students so that the students, when they come in, they are able to do their best and perform to the best of their ability.
Interviewer:
“When I was a student, I wish my school had...”
Georgia Lemon:
all of the materials that they needed so that I could learn. Dedicated personnel. That means individuals that cared about me, cared about what I learned, cared about teaching me so that I would learn what I need to better myself in life. So I would just, like my school to have been surrounded by dedicated individuals who made sure I knew that I was valued, and that they were there to protect me and ensure that I received the best possible education that they had to offer.
