PUBLIC MEETINGS ARE IMPORTANT SPACES FOR DEMOCRACY.
In partnership with City Bureau and WDET, Documenters is a civic journalism project to increase awareness and coverage of public meetings in Detroit. From September 2018 to April 2021, CitizenDetroit partnered with Detroit Documenters to train and pay highly engaged residents to participate in the news gathering process and contribute to a new public record for the city.
WE KNOW THAT THE VOICES OF YOUNG PEOPLE MATTER.
In 2018, we partnered with Detroit Public Schools Community District to increase civic participation of Detroit youth by providing them with a local citizenship kit.
